The President of the Republic participates in TICAD8 summit in Tunis

Tunis, August 27, 2022 (SPS) - The work of the eighth regular session of the Partnership Summit between the African Union and Japan, known as the Tokyo International Conference on African Development TICAD8, kicked off today, Saturday, in Tunis, in the presence of the President of the Republic, the Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, accompanied by an important Saharawi delegation.

In the opening speech, President of Tunisia Mr. Kais Saied, affirmed that Africa has lived through many tragedies for years as a result of instability, hoping to find legal solutions and appropriate conditions safe investments.

Tunisian President Kais Saied stressed the need to build just societies on the African continent, noting that holding this conference with Japan is not a coincidence, especially since it is a country that has achieved a lot in a short time. "We also have to challenge time," he said.

Discussions at TICAD 8 will focus on three themes: achieving sustainable and inclusive growth with reduced economic inequalities; realizing a sustainable and resilient society based on human security; and building sustainable peace and stability through supporting Africa’s own efforts.

The presence of the Sahrawi Republic at the eighth TICAD summit is an embodiment of its deserved position at international level, which is the result of the great sacrifices of its people and global support with its rights to sovereignty and existence like other nations.

The President of the Republic is accompanied by an important delegation comprising of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Salek, the Ambassador in Ethiopia and the permanent representative to the African Union Mr. Lamman Abaali, Advisors to the Presidency Mr.  Abdati Breika, and Ms. Annana Labat Rachid.
