Madrid, 15 May 2022 (SPS) - A Spanish parliamentary delegation will pay a visit to the Saharawi refugee camps next week to reiterate its support for the struggle of the Saharawi people and condemn the "flagrant bias" of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez regarding the conflict in Western Sahara.
According to Spanish media, 147 Spanish and European personalities will travel to the Saharawi refugee camps to participate in the celebrations of the 49th anniversary of the creation of the Polisario Front and the outbreak of the armed struggle.
Many personalities will be part of this delegation, including the third vice-president of the Spanish Parliament, a deputy, presidents of municipalities and Spanish councillors, in addition to politicians from Europe and Latin America, revealed these media citing the Polisario Front representation in Madrid.
This visit is part of the support for the Sahrawi cause while condemning "the flagrant bias" of the Spanish Prime Minister.
The deputies of the Spanish Parliament were indignant against the reversal of the Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez on the conflict in Western Sahara namely his unilateral decision in favor of the Moroccan "expansion" in Western Sahara, the last colony in Africa.
Spanish MPs approved a proposal submitted by three parliamentary blocs denouncing Sanchez's "unilateral and illegal" change of position regarding the Western Sahara conflict.
During intense debates on Western Sahara, parliamentary groups have strongly denounced the position defended by the Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez, calling it a "betrayal" of the Sahrawi people, and demanded that he sends a "clear" message to the King of Morocco that "the only framework that Spain can defend is that of international legality supporting the inalienable right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination.
