Sultana Jaya will be recognized with the 5th 'Esther García' award for popular ACPT struggle

Torrelavega (Cantabria), 08, March 2022 (SPS)- The Saharawi activist Sultana Jaya will be awarded the 5th 'Esther García' award for popular struggle, awarded by the Citizen Assembly for Torrelavega (ACPT). The organization wants to highlight the work of “one of the most visible faces of the occupied areas of Western Sahara for his confrontation against the Moroccan occupation authorities.

In this fifth edition, the aim was to recognize "the right of the Saharawi people and peaceful resistance", as well as to show "opposition to the occupation of Western Sahara by the Kingdom of Morocco".

The ACPT councilor Iván Martínez has defended during a press conference that Sultana Jaya and her family are being subjected to physical and psychological abuse so that they cease their peaceful demands in favor of the right to self-determination and independence of the Saharawi people".SPS
