Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), Feb 02, 2022 (SPS) - The Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) denounced Wednesday the use of military aviation by Morocco against Saharawi civilians, along with the continuation of its human rights violations , calling on AU to investigate the situation in the illegally occupied parts of the Saharawi Republic, which continues to deteriorate steadily.
During its participation in the 40th Ordinary Session of the Council of the Executive of the African Union (AU), the Saharawi delegation, headed by the Ambassador of the SADR in South Africa, Mr. Mohamed Yeslem Beissat, called the attention of the Council on "The seriousness of the situation in the Saharawi Republic, taking into account that the military aviation incursions have had civilian victims, not only Saharawi but also from Algeria, whose death will undoubtedly worsen the general situation in the entire region."
In this regard, the Saharawi delegation stressed the need for the African Union to deploy specialized missions to examine the human rights situation in the region, in accordance with the spirit of the African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights and the relevant decisions of the Executive Council of the African Union.
