Dakhla (refugee camps), 12 December 2021 (SPS) - The work of the 9th Congress of the General Union of Sahrawi Workers (UGTSARIO) began Sunday in the wilaya of Dakhla, Sahrawi refugees camps.
The Congress is held under the theme "Action, Sacrifice and Fidelity, for the Completion of Liberation and Edification", in the presence of more than 400 delegates of Sahrawi workers and representatives of foreign trade unions in solidarity with the Saharawi cause, as well as parliamentarians and parties concerned with liberation issues.
The opening session of the congress, dedicated to the memory of Shahid "Ezzine Mebirik Ali-Fal", took place in the presence of the President of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), secretary general of the Polisario Front, Brahim Ghali, and members of the Sahrawi government.
In an opening speech, the president of the preparatory committee of the congress, secretary general of UGTSARIO, Salama Ibrahim El-Bachir, stressed that this 9th congress is held in "a context marked by positive developments and achievements of the SADR and the Polisario Front on the international scene, mainly the resumption of the armed struggle and direct confrontation with the Moroccan occupier.
