East Timor reaffirms its support for Sahrawi people's struggle

Dili (East Timor) Febr 04, 2021 (SPS) - The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Timor Leste, Mrs. Adaljiza Albertina Xavier Reis Magno, has reaffirmed Thursday the support of her country to the struggle of the Saharawi people, voicing their constant willingness to defend their right to freedom and independence during a meeting with SADR´s ambassador to East Timor, Mr. Mohamed Islam Badi.
The Sahrawi diplomat broached with his interlocutor the latest developments of the Saharawi issue, in particular those related to the situation on the ground after the resumption of the armed struggle against the occupation forces throughout the Moroccan wall of shame.
For her part, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Timor-Leste, Mrs. Adalgiza Magno, has assured the Ambassador of our country that "the Saharawi issue is one of the main axes in the foreign policy of Timor-Leste, and the Timorese Government it has spared no effort in supporting the Saharawi people in their struggle and defending their right to self-determination and independence, in the international forums in which Timor is a part. "
Adaljiza Albertina said: "Our defense of the Saharawi cause comes from our principles, our common values, and a long history of resistance that has brought our peoples together in the recent past."
The Minister added: "The Constitution of the Republic of East Timor requires us to defend all the just causes of the world, especially the inalienable right of peoples to self-determination and independence." SPS
