Addis Ababa (African Union) 4 February 2021 (SPS)- African Union High Representative for Silencing the Guns, Mr. Ramtane Lamamra, considered the failure to end decolonization in Western Sahara as a matter of concern.

The African High official said that armed conflicts have robbed Africa of more than 100 billion dollars since the end of the Cold War in 1991, stressing that "it is alarming that the issue of decolonization from Western Sahara, which has remained unresolved for a long time, remains unresolved, as well as the continuation of armed conflicts on the continent."
According to an article published by the African Center for the Constructive Resolution of Conflict, Lamamra said, “Unfortunately, the continent witnessed the largest number of deaths and food crises in the world.”

As member of the Stockholm Peace Research Board of Directors, he added, “these conflicts resulted in the complete collapse of the economies, the destruction of the environmental and political landscape.” (SPS)
