Smara (refugee camps), 29 February 2020 (SPS) - President of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), Brahim Gali, stressed Thursday that the Polisario Front cannot participate in any plan to resolve the conflict in Western Sahara "if it does not fully respect the sacred right of Saharawi people to self-determination and independence."
The Sahrawi President, who is also Secretary General of the Polisario Front, in his official speech during the celebrations of the 44th anniversary of the proclamation of the SADR in the province of Smara in the Sahrawi refugee camps, said
that "the Popular Front for the Liberation of Segia El Hamra and Rio de Oro (Polisario) could not be involved in any effort that does not fully respect the sacred rights of the Saharawi people to self-determination, like all colonial peoples and countries," the SPS news agency reported.
"The Saharawi people are determined to defend their legitimate rights by all means guaranteed by international legitimacy," added Ghali calling on the international community to "assume its responsibilities" in the face of the Moroccan occupier that could lead, he said, to "a military confrontation."
