Algerian President reiterates Algeria's firm position on Sahrawi issue, stresses it’s decolonization issue

Algiers, 19 December 2019 (SPS) - After the swearing-in ceremony on Thursday, Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune delivered a speech in which he reaffirmed Algeria's steadfast stance on the issue of Western Sahara, considering it an issue of decolonization in the hands of the United Nations and the African Union.
"The issue of Western Sahara is a matter of decolonization, in the hands of the United Nations and the African Union, and it should remain away from disturbing bilateral relations between brothers,"  said Mr. Tebboune.
President of the Republic, Secretary of the Frente POLISARIO, Brahim Ghali, had sent a message of congratulations to his Algerian counterpart, following his victory in the presidential elections held on Thursday, 12 December. (SPS)
