Polisario Front warns against “serious impact” of deadlock in peace process

Submitted on

Shaheed Al-Hafeed, August 24, 2019 (SPS) -The Polisario Front on Sunday warned against the danger of the deadlock in the peace process led by the United Nations (UN) and the African Union (AU) to decolonize Western Sahara.
Chaired by President of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), Brahim Ghali, the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front held an extraordinary session on 21-23 August, during which the current situation at the national, regional and international levels was discussed.
The meeting also referred to the lack of interest of the Security Council and the international community, particularly after the resignation of the UN Special Envoy for Western Sahara, former Germany’s President Horst Kohler, in seeking a peaceful and definitive solution to the Sahrawi conflict.
On this occasion, the Polisario Front National Secretariat warned against the fact that well-known foreign powers, like France, continue defending the aggressive and expansionist thesis adopted by the Kingdom of Morocco and the illegal occupation by some parties of Western Sahara, which would further cause tensions and would threaten peace and stability in the region.
Moreover, the Polisario Front urged the Security Council to take firm decisions to avoid serious consequences. (SPS)
