Polisario Front would resort to European justice to defend sovereignty of Sahrawi people over their wealth

Shaheed Alhafed, December 21, 2018 (SPS) - The National Secretariat of the Polisario Front has confirmed that the Polisario Front would resort to all available means, including the European justice to defend the rights of Sahrawi people and sovereignty over their wealth.

In a statement following its 9th session on Thursday chaired by President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Brahim Ghali, the National Secretariat called on the Governments of the European Union to put an immediate halt to this course, which is an unfortunate embroilment of the European peoples in the open robbery of the wealth of an unarmed and oppressed people, occupied by military force.

The National Secretariat welcomed the successive decisions of the European Court of Justice that nullify any such agreement affecting the territory of Western Sahara without the consent of the Sahrawi people through its legitimate and sole representative, the Polisario Front, and confirming that this position, which France and Spain stand behind in particular, represents a clear violation of the European law, international law and international humanitarian law.

It considered that this European position puts obstacles in the way of continued efforts led by the UN Secretary-General's Personal Envoy, which enabled a new dynamic to be created in the course of the conflict resolution. (SPS)
