Cuba defends the Saharawi people's right to self-determination and independence

New York, Oct 16, 2018 (SPS) - During the deliberations of the Fourth Committee on Decolonization, the Republic of Cuba defended the Saharawi people's right to self-determination and independence in accordance with United Nations resolutions in this regard.
The representative of Cuba to the United Nations, Mrs. Anáñez Rodríguez, stressed that her country was defending the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination on the basis of respect for the principles and objectives of the Charter of the United Nations and the requirements of international law and the relevant resolutions of the United Nations.
Cuba reaffirmed its support for the efforts of the Secretary-General and the United Nations and his Personal Envoy to reach a just, lasting and mutually acceptable political solution that will guarantee the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination in accordance with resolution 1514 of the United Nations General Assembly.
