SWAPO SPYL stages peaceful demonstration in solidarity with Sahrawi people

Windhoek (Namibia), May 28, 2018 (SPS) - The SWAPO Party Youth League (SPYL) staged a peaceful demonstration at the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation (MIRCO), on Monday, 28 May 2018, in solidarity with the people of Western Sahara.
The Demonstration coincides with a State Visit of His Excellency, Mr. Brahim Ghali, President of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), to the Republic of Namibia, from 27-29 May 2018.
The SWAPO Party Youth League members handed over a petition to Honourable Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, in which they expressed support for the right to self-determination an independence of the people of Western Sahara.
The SPYL urged the Namibian Government and people to continue their support for the cause of the people of Western Sahara, and to continue the call on the United Nations, to ensure that the Sahrawi people exercise their full right to self-determination, without further delays.
Honourable Nandi-Ndaitwah promised that the Namibian Government remains steadfast in its call for the right to self-determination of the people of Western Sahara.
She further informed the gathered youth that the petition would be forwarded to the relevant UN institutions, for appropriate attention. (SPS)
