Smara (Sahrawi Refugee Camps) ), Feb 28, 2018 (SPS) - Sahrawi President Brahim Ghali affirmed Tuesday, in Smara, that “Morocco has to be convinced that its membership to the African Union alongside the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic is in itself a recognition of the Sahrawi reality.”
In his speech on the occasion of the festivities of the 42nd anniversary of SADR proclamation, the secretary general of the Polisario Front said that Morocco must “learn the lesson and recognize the fact that its membership to the African Union, alongside SADR, is in itself a recognition of the undeniable Sahrawi reality.”
“The kingdom of Morocco must accept that Africa never tolerates any form of colonialism in the continent,” said President Ghali, adding that it (Morocco) “shouldn’t expect that Africa gives up one day the fundamental principles on which the African Union is based or tolerates any part trying to undermine its unity and cohesion and to play with its rules and principles.”
Ghali invited Morocco to “realize, in the same way as the other members of the Union, that he must respect its constitutive status by complying with AU’s rules and decisions, including the resolutions of its 30th summit held last January.”
“SADR is ready to hold direct negotiations with Morocco for the settlement of their conflict through the implementation of the legitimate African and international decisions, including the respect of peoples’ rights to self-determination and independence as well as the respect of the borders inherited after the independence.”SPS
