Shaheed El-Hafed, Sep 22, 2017 (SPS) - The Council of Ministers condemned the unjust decision by the Moroccan authorities of the abusive transfer of Sahrawi political prisoners of Gdeim Izik group to various Moroccan prisons, increasing the suffering of the prisoners and their families.
In a statement released on Thursday, the Council of Ministers stressed that such practices of intimidation and reprisals reflect the failure of the Moroccan state that seeks to break the will of the Saharawi activists and the determination of the Saharawi people in their legitimate struggle for freedom and independence.
The Council of Ministers called on the United Nations to exert all the necessary pressure for the release of all Saharawi political prisoners.
On the occasion of the tour of the new Personal Envoy of UNSG for Western Sahara, Mr. Horst Köhle, the Council of Ministers reiterated the position of the Saharawi side, who welcomes the resumption of efforts, expressing its readiness to cooperate constructively for the implementation of the charter and the resolutions of the United Nations to complete the process of decolonization of the last colony in Africa.
