Tenerife (Canary Islands), August 7, 2017 (SPS) - Members of the Sahrawi community in Tenerife, Canary Islands, organized a protest on the Camison beach in the south of the island, where a Canary company accumulated sand dunes recently brought from the port of El-Aaiun, pending its use in resettling the beach.
The protest was attended by Saharawi children from the refugee camps together with the hosting Canary families in the framework of the "Holidays in Peace" program, members of the Canary Association for Friendship with the Saharawi People, and the delegation of the Polisario Front in region.
The participants urged the Spanish and Canary authorities to take all necessary measures to ensure the sovereignty of the Saharawi people over their natural resources, considering that the Spanish state is the legal power of the territory, demanding that it punish all those who are involved in the looting of Sahrawi natural resources against the will and interests of the Saharawi people.
