Submitted on

Bir-Lehlu (SADR), July 29, 2017 - The President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Brahim Gali, has called on the Commission of the African Union to work for the release of the Saharawi political prisoners of Gdeim Izik group and all Saharawi political prisoners in Moroccan prisons.
In a letter to the President of the African Union Commission, Mr. Moussa Faki Mahamat, the Saharawi President, pointed out that after seven years of unjust detention, under difficult circumstances, the Moroccan authorities decided to issue pre-fabricated sentences, set up a farce trial with fabricated charges, despite reports and demands documented by the defense, international observers and human rights organizations, which confirmed the invalidity of the sentences and called for the release of Sahrawi political prisoners.
The unfair sentences by the Moroccan occupation court against Sahrawi political prisoners evoked large national and international solidarity and support for them. Marches and rallies have been held to condemn the unjust sentences against Saharawi militants, it should be recalled.  (SPS)
