Violent intervention against Sahrawi demonstrators in occupied city of El-Aaiun

Submitted on

El-Aaiun (Occupied Territories), July 1, 2017 (SPS) – The Moroccan forces intervened Friday violently against Sahrawi demonstrators in the occupied city of El-Aaiun, at the time when they took to the street to express their support and solidarity with the Sahrawi political prisoners in Moroccan prisoners and demand their release.
In the early hours of Friday, the Moroccan forces imposed a severe siege on the house of Sahrawi political prisoner Abderahman Zeyu, preventing many activists from joining the house, where a platform of solidarity with the prisoners would be organised, which turned into a peaceful sit-in, which the Moroccan forces suppressed violently, beating and dragging the demonstrators, causing many casualties, most of them in a very critical situation.
The Moroccan forces also violated the sanctity of the worshipers in the mosque of Lahoum, as well as the sanctity of the house of Zeyu family. (SPS)
