Submitted on

New York, June 14, 2017 (SPS) - The Frente POLISARIO invited the Decolonization Committee, through its representative in United Nations, Mr. Bujari Ahmed, to visit the territory to be able to know the reality on the ground, stating in the same time the POLISARIO's willingness to cooperate with all the missions they want to visit.

Bujari Ahmed, on the other hand, emphasized the great work of the Fourth Committee, which is in charge of following the resolutions of the General Assembly on the Western Sahara, while reminding that to be able to carry out its work, it is pertinent to visit the territory since the last visit made by this organ was in the year 1975.

The Saharawi diplomat clarified in his speech that it is important to assign a date for the already agreed meeting on Western Sahara, which according to Bujari would remove the cause of forgetfulness and media blockade, adding that it is a historical, legal and ethical responsibility of the international system on Western Sahara.

In the same regard, Bujari Ahmed, urged the international organization to take action against Morocco's plundering of Saharawi natural resources such as phosphate and fishing, noting that such looting supposes more than five billion dollars for the Moroccan State , Which ends up imposing the rejected status quo.

The Saharawi representative recalled that the POLISARIO took legal action against companies involved in the plunder, and that the European Union is expected to respect the judicial decision last year, which ruled that Western Sahara and Morocco are two different territories, Therefore, Saharawi natural resources cannot be included in bilateral agreements originating from Western Sahara.SPS
