Sahrawi political prisoners’ trial takes worrying turn

Submitted on

Paris- The trial of the Sahrawi political prisoners, which resumed on June 5 in Rabat, has taken a worrying turn with the pleading of the civil parties which want to add the charges of domestic terrorism, said Monday the Association of Friendship with the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (AFSADR).
The quashed trial of the Saharawi political prisoners of Gdeim Izik group (24 defendants, 21 are still imprisoned for more than 6 years) resumed on June 5 at the Court of Appeal of Rabat-Sale in Morocco.
AFSADR, which is struggling for the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination, expressed concern that the defendants refuse to attend the trial, because of the accumulation of irregularities and iniquities, but its concern has grown with the pleading of the lawyers of civil parties.
The association underlined that “these charges will not require material evidence to be able to condemn, as it is enough to attest to the intention of “terrorism”. (SPS)
