Sahrawi human rights activist Aminatou Haidar participates in honor ceremony in memory of Miguel Portas

Lisbon (Portugal), 8 May 2017 (SPS) - Sahrawi human rights activist Aminatou Haidar took part in the honor ceremony dedicated to the memory of Portuguese left-wing fighter Miguel Portas, on its fifth anniversary held Saturday in Lisbon, according to a Saharawi diplomatic source.
On this occasion, the Sahrawi activist made press briefings with Portuguese media, received by the vice-president of the Portuguese Parliament and met with most European parliamentary groups and eminent personalities of the Portuguese civil society participating in this event.
The visit of Mr. Aminatou Haidar, at the official invitation of the European left, is part of this ceremony in honor of the Portuguese defendant Miguel Portas, who sacrificed his life to defend just causes, including that of Western Sahara, and who is one of the founders of the European Committee of friendship with the Sahrawi people in the European Parliament.
