Spain: 1st FiSahara Madrid to give more visibility to Sahrawi people's struggle

Madrid, April 29, 2017 (SPS) -The first Western Sahara International Film Festival (FiSahara) to take place by the end of May in Madrid is an opportunity to give further visibility to the struggle of the Sahrawi people, FiSahara Executive Director Maria Carrion said.
The first edition of this festival in Spain will be hosted by the film theatre of the Cultural Center Matadero in Madrid and represents an opportunity to support the cause of the Sahrawi cause and its peaceful struggle for self-determination, the same official told APS.
She stated that this festival would be held in parallel in the Sahrawi refugee camps and Madrid to allow the greatest number possible of figures of the Spanish cinema and culture, Spanish supporters to the Sahrawi cause and the public in general to attended and get informed of the situation of Sahrawi refugees, the populations living in occupied areas and violations of human rights by Moroccan authorities.
Supported by the municipality of Madrid, the festival includes the screening of three movies, roundtables and a Sahrawi traditional music concert hosted by singer Aziza Brahim, she added.  (SPS)
