President of Republic calls on UN to assume responsibility on the decolonization of Western Sahara

Bir Lehlu (Liberated Territories), December 14, 2016 (SPS) - The President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Frente POLISARIO, Mr. Brahim Gali, has called, in a message, the United Nations to take its responsibility on the decolonization of the Sahara Western, the last colony in Africa.
 
In the same regard, the President of the Republic stressed that the decolonization of Western Sahara requires a rapid intervention by the UN to guarantee the protection of human rights in the Occupied Territories, noting that MINURSO still without the mechanisms to report and monitor human rights.
 
Besides, POLISARIO SG indicated that the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights did not carry out any mission in the SO during the year 2016.
 
The Saharawi president said that the responsibility of the UN includes the release of the Saharawi political prisoners of Gdeim Izik, Saharawi political prisoner Embarek Edaudi, Yahia Mohamed Hafed and all Saharawi political prisoners in Moroccan prisons, as well as reveal the fate of more than 651 Saharawi disappeared victims of the Moroccan repression policy.
 
The President of the Republic demanded to stop the systematic looting of the Saharawi natural resources and the annulment of any agreement affecting land and territorial waters of Western Sahara. SPS
