Moroccan forces intervene violently against Sahrawi demonstrators on International Human Rights Day

EL-Aaiun (Occupied Territories), December 11, 2016 (SPS) - The Moroccan occupation forces on Saturday evening intervened violently against Sahrawi demonstrators in the occupied city of EL-Aaiun, after responding to an appeal launched by the Coordination of Human Rights Activists in Western Sahara for demonstrations to commemorate the International Day of Human Rights on December 10.

The brutal intervention left many casualties among the Sahrawi demonstrators including women and persons with special needs, blocking Samara Street and the alleys leading to it in an attempt to prevent the Sahrawi citizens from demonstrating.

The same forces intervened also violently against a peaceful sit-in organized by the Coordination of Unemployed Sahrawi Graduates in commemoration of the International Day of Human Rights on Smara Street in the occupied city of El-Aaiun.

The unemployed Sahrawi graduates raised banners denouncing the dire human rights situation in the occupied territories of Western Sahara and demanding immediate cessation of the depletion the riches and resources of the Sahrawi people. (SPS)
