Sahrawi activist Ghalia Djimi awarded "Pimentel Fonseca" prize for her peaceful struggle

Naples (Italy) August 22, 2016 (SPS) The Vice President of the Sahrawi Association of Victims of Grave Human Rights Violations Committed by the Moroccan authorities (ASVDH), Ghalia Djimi, awarded Saturday in Naples, Italy, "Pimentel Fonseca" Price, which recognizes the work of journalist women.

The award is dedicated to the memory of Eleonora Pimentel Fonseca, Neapolitan journalist and one of the leaders of the revolution against the Bourbon monarchy in 1799, for which she was hanged.

The Sahrawi activist was awarded in recognition of her peaceful resistance for the self-determination of the Sahrawi people and her role to lift the veil on the sufferings of the Sahrawi women in the occupied territories of Western Sahara and in the South of Morocco.

Several personalities and Italian and international movements of solidarity with the just struggle of the Saharawi people for freedom and independence attended this event.
