Sahrawi Red Crescent urgently appeals for urgent humanitarian assistance to refugees following recent rains in Aaiun and Dakhla camps

Chahid El Hafed,  August 16, 2016 (SPS) - Sahrawi Red Crescent (SRC)  appealed donor countries, international organizations and non-governmental organizations to provide  urgent humanitarian aid to Sahrawi refugees, following the heavy rains witnessed the camps on Monday, especially the Wilayas of El Aaiun an Dakhla.
 
The Saharawi organization recalled in a statement, a copy of which obtained by SPS "donor countries that its food stocks is running out, empty of tents and other equipment. "
According to SRC statement, Aaiun camp have witnessed  heavy rains accompanied by violent storm leaving 11 people injured, including one in serious condition, varying damaging of the fragile tents and houses of  refugees, and also in some educational, health and other social institutions.
The statement added that the Saharawi Red Crescent Foundation is coordinating with the agencies of the United Nations and various humanitarian organizations working in the camps to inspect the damage and contribute to provide the needs and help to those affected people.SPS
