Tanzania reiterates support for Saharawi people right to self-determination

Dar Es Salaam, July 30, 2016 (SPS) Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Republic of Tanzania, Augustine Mahiga, reiterated the principled position of Tanzania in support of Saharawi people's right to self-determination.

Mr. Mahiga stressed that respect for the borders of the colonial era is a sacred principle the African Union (AU) inherited from the Organization of African unity (OAU), according to a statement of the Saharawi Embassy in this country.

He expressed congratulations to the Frente POLISARIO for the success of the Extraordinary Congress and the election of the new Secretary General and the President of the Republic, and condolences to the Saharawi people after the death of the late President Mohamed Abdelaziz.

Saharawi Ambassador to Tanzania, Brahim Salem Bousseif, who was received Friday by Mr. Augustine Mahiga, discussed the excellent diplomatic relations of friendship and cooperation between Tanzania and the Sahrawi Republic. (SPS)
