Algiers, July 21, 2016 (SPS) -  The Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) is a founding member of the African Union (AU) and its suspension from the organization cannot be requested, said Thursday in Algiers Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal.
In a statement to the press on the sidelines of the closing ceremony of the Parliament's spring session, Sellal said that the request to expel the Sahrawi Republic was "nonsense" because "we must not forget that the SADR is a founding member of the pan-African organization."
If Morocco wants to join the AU without any condition, "Algeria has no problem with it, but there are procedures to follow," he added.
In this regard, the Premier said that Algeria has no problem with the Moroccan people or with Morocco in general.
"If it is question to resume discussions on cooperation areas," said Sellal, adding that "as regards Western Sahara, Algeria's position is clear and unchanged from the beginning: we are for a UN solution and the respect for international law." SPS
