AU’s advisory opinion on respect of human rights in Western Sahara broached by Khadad in Moscow

Moscow, April 13, 2016 (SPS) - The African Union’s advisory opinion, calling to respect human rights in the occupied territories of Western Sahara, and condemning the illegal exploitation by Morocco of Sahrawi natural resources, was examined in Moscow by the Sahrawi coordinator with MINURSO (United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara), M’hamed Khadad, and the Russian official Vasily Kuznetsov. 
 
In his meeting with the president of the Arabic and Islamic studies Centre at the Institute for Oriental Studies at the Russian Academy of Sciences Vasily Kuznetsov and his assistant Nicolai Sukov, Kheddad informed about the recent developments of the Sahrawi cause, hailing the Sahrawi people’s “victories,” particularly since his last visit to Russia.
 
According to the Sahrawi news agency SPS, Kheddad, in this meeting, underlined the adherence of the Polisario Front to Geneva Convention and the decision of the European Court on December 2015 on the cancellation of the agreements signed between EU and Morocco and comprising the territorial waters of occupied Western Sahara.
 
The agency said that the Sahrawi official, accompanied by a delegation, will end his visit to Moscow on Thursday, in which he will hold meetings with important figures of the Russian civil society and media.SPS
