American Senators called on Ban Ki-moon to intervene on dismantling of MINURSO

Submitted on

Washington, 10 April 2016 (SPS) - Members of the American Senate called, on Saturday, the United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, to intervene on the danger posed by the dismantling of the United Nations Mission for the referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) to peacekeeping in the occupied Sahrawi territories, Polisario Front representatives in Washington told APS.
In a letter addressed to the UN Secretary General, influential American senators, including Republican James Inhofe, warned against Morocco’s attempts to dismantle the MINURSO.
The consequences of the retaliatory measures taken by Morocco against the UN mission could have negative repercussions on Western Sahara said the senators, who are also worried about the human rights’ situation in the occupied territories. (SPS)
