Madrid, April 07, 2016 (SPS) - A Spanish parliamentary group of support to the Sahrawi cause was created Wednesday following a meeting held in the parliament, said Thursday the representative of the Polisario Front to Spain Jira Bulahi.
Made up of 14 political parties represented at the Spanish parliament, this new parliamentary group, which promotes peace in Western Sahara, held a meeting on Wednesday evening at the headquarters of the parliament in the presence of the coordinator of the Spanish associations of solidarity with the Sahrawi people José Taboada and the representative of the Polisario Front to Spain Jira Bulahi.
The creation of this group aims at “boosting a new policy to effectively contribute to finding an urgent solution to the conflict in occupied Western Sahara,” said Bulahi, who also considers this parliamentary framework as “very important.”
The Spanish civil society remains mobilized until “the release of all the Sahrawi prisoners and particularly those of Gdeim Izik Camp and the recovery by the Sahrawi people of their independence which will put an end to the suffering inflicted by the Moroccan regime since 40 years,” said José Taboada in a rally organized last Saturday in Madrid to protest, among others, “against the unfair and illegal detention of 13 Sahrawi political prisoners, who are on hunger strike.”SPS
