Colombia Senate hosts International conference on Western Sahara

Bogota, March 31, 2016 (SPS) .- the Senate of Colombia on Wednesday hosted  International conference under the theme  Western Sahara, the last colony with a large attendance of senators, deputies, ambassadors, NGO `s, personalities and friends of the Saharawi cause, university professors, students and the press .
 
The opening of the Conference led by Senate President Dr. Fernando Velasco who expressed clear and strong support to Saharawi people's right to self-determination.
 
 All participants agreed to reaffirm the legality of the Saharawi cause, and expressed their condemnation of the expulsion of the civilian component of MINURSO appealing also to the need for strong action of Colombia and the International Community to support the recognition of the SADR and its joining to the United Nations.
 
Suelma Beiruk, Vice President of the African Parliament, concluded the conference explaining in detail the back position of the African legislative apparatus to full decolonization of the Saharawi territory and the need to conclude the peace process .
Vice President of the African legislative also expressed the interest of her organization to establish exchange and cooperation with the Colombian Parliament and in generally with parliaments of Latin America.
 
 Sahrawi important delegation comprising Mrs. Suelma Beiruk Vice President of the African Parliament, the Saharawi Minister for relations with Latin America and the Caribbean, Omar Mansur and Ambassador Mokhtar Labuehi took part. SPS
