Italians House and Senate express solidarity with Saharawi people struggle‏

Washington, March 18, 2016 (SPS) - "The Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission will hold on March 23, 2016 a hearing on Western Sahara which will address the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (Minurso) and the situation of human rights in the Occupied Territories of Western Sahara ", the Commission announced Wednesday.
 
 
The hearing will organize under the title "threatened Human Rights and delayed self-determination: the situation in Western Sahara" where several American and international personalities will attend including Kerry Kennedy, President of Kennedy Center, Francesco Bastagli, Former Representative of Secretary General's special UN for Western Sahara, Eric Goldstein, deputy director of the Department of Middle East and North Africa (MENA) of Human Rights Watch and Erik Hagen, Chairman of the Observatory for the Protection of Natural Resources in Western Sahara (WSRW).
 
 
"The hearing, which will be open to members of Congress, the public and the media, will also address the functions of MINURSO and the efforts carried out this mission and the members of the Security Council of the UN, including the United States, for the protection of human rights in Western Sahara and the organization of a fair and transparent referendum on its political status, as well as the evaluation of a commitment of the Office of human rights High Commissioner of the UN to facilitate monitoring of human rights in the territory.
