SADR takes part at African Second Forum on Cybercrime

Chahid El-Hafed, June 30, 2021 (SPS) - The Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) took part in the second African Forum on Cybercrime held on June 28 and 29 through videoconference under the sponsorship of the Commission Africana and the European Council.
During this Forum, in which the majority of Member States of the African Union and other international organizations and institutions have participated, several workshops and presentations were organized on issues related to cybercrime, according to the experiences of each country.

SPLA conducts new attacks against Moroccan occupation forces

Bir Lahlou (Sahrawi Liberation Territories), June 29, 2021 (SPS) - Units of the Sahrawi People's Liberation Army (SPLA) carried out new attacks on Sunday and Monday against the positions of the forces of the Moroccan occupation army along of the sand wall, said a statement from the Ministry of National Defense.
According to the 229th communiqué, "the units of the SPLA bombed on Sunday the positions of the occupying forces in the region of Ross Ben Amira in the sector of Farsia".

City of Seville names a square after Aminatou Haidar

Seville (Spain), 28 June 2021 (SPS) - The City Council of the San Pablo-Santa Justa district in Seville, Spain, has approved a motion to name a square in the historic city after Sahrawi activist Aminatou Haidar, according to media reports.
The proposal was presented by the coalition of left-wing parties Izquierda Unida (United Left), chaired by the Minister of Consumer Affairs Alberto Garzon, to pay tribute to the Sahrawi activist, according to the Europa Press agency.

Impartiality, prerequisite for future UN envoy for Western Sahara

President of Republic receives reply letter from his Cuban counterpart

Bir Lahlou (liberated territories), 26 June 2021 (SPS)-  President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, received a letter of reply from his Cuban counterpart, Mr. Miguel Diaz-Canel.
In his reply letter, the President of Cuba said, "I received the congratulatory letter that you sent on the success of the Eighth Congress of the Cuban Communist Party and my election as its General Secretary with much joy, pleasure and sincere appreciation."

Government of Timor-Leste reaffirms its commitment and support for Sahrawi just cause

 Dili (Timor-Leste ), 26 June 2021 (SPS) - The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, H.E. Dra. Adaljiza Magno received Friday the Saharawi Ambassador in Dili, Mr. Malainin Abba.
The Minister Magno, reaffirmed the strong commitment and support of the Government of Timor-Leste to the just cause of the people of the Saharawi Republic (S.A.D.R) to Self-determination and Independence.

South Africa renews its support to Saharawi right people self-determination

Geneva (Switzerland), June 24, 2021 (SPS) - South Africa reaffirmed the principle of the inviolability of the borders inherited after independence in Africa and the right of the peoples of the former colonial lands to self-determination and independence, reiterating its position of principle on the right to self-determination of the Saharawi people, in accordance with the provisions of the Charter of the United Nations and the Constitutive Act of the African Union.

Francesco Bastagli: "UNSC assumes a large part of the blame for the failure of the organization of the referendum in Western Sahara"

Geneva (Switzerland), June 24, 2021 (SPS) - The former United Nations Representative in Western Sahara, Francesco Bastagli, highlighted during the Virtual Conference held in Geneva on the causes of the failure of the United Nations and the ways to reactivate the peace process in Western Sahara, that "the Security Council assumes much of the blame for the failure to organize the referendum on self-determination in Western Sahara."

Sahrawi political prisoner, Aziz Embarek, faces humiliation and harassment in precarious conditions

Occupied El Aaiún, June 22, 2021 (SPS) - The prison authorities of the Moroccan city of Marrakech proceeded last Friday,  to inspect in a humiliating and discriminatory way the cell of the Saharawi political prisoner Aziz Embarek Al-Wahidi, who is confined in precarious conditions, serving a ten-year sentence for his activism in the ranks of the Sahrawi students who demande the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination.

President of Republic congratulates Iranian President-elect

Bir Lahlou, 21 June 2021 (SPS) - The President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Ibrahim Ghali, has congratulated the Iranian President-elect Mr. Ebrahim Raisi.
The President of the Republic expressed his congratulations to his Iranian counterpart, on his own behalf and on behalf of the Sahrawi people and the Government.
President Ghali expressed willingness of the Sahrawi Republic to build brotherhood, friendship and cooperation relations between the two countries for the benefit of the two peoples. (SPS)

IUSY reelects UJSARIO Vice-President, endorses motion in support of Sahrawi people struggle

Panama, 20 June 2021 (SPS) - The participants in the 34th World Congress of the International Union of Socialist Youth (IUSY) reelected Friday the Union of Sahrawi Youth (UJSARIO) as Vice President of the International Organization, for the fifth time in a row.
The participants in the IUSY 34th World Congress also endorsed a motion in which they expressed their unconditional support for the legitimate struggle of the Sahrawi people for freedom, and their rejection of any attempt to deprive it of its inalienable right to self-determination.

WSRW warns of illegal exploitation of blueberries in occupied Western Sahara

London, 20 June 2021 (SPS) - Blueberry farms are currently being set up in the occupied city of Dakhla in Western Sahara, warns the international observatory Western Sahara Resource Watch (WSRW), calling on retailers to take action against "the financing of Moroccan colonization."
"Blueberries made in Morocco will, in the near future, not only be produced in Morocco, but also in occupied Western Sahara," deplored the WSRW on its website.
