World Press Freedom Day: Human rights organizations condemn Moroccan systematic violation of freedom of opinion in occupied areas of Western Sahara

Geneva (Switzerland), April 30, 2020 (SPS) - The Geneva Support Group for the Protection and Promotion of Human Rights in Western Sahara has denounced the systematic violation of freedom of opinion and expression and the serious breaches of the International Humanitarian Law by the Moroccan Occupying Power of Western Sahara.

Algeria sends humanitarian solidarity assistance to Sahrawi refugee camps

Algeria, April 30, 2020 (SPS) - Minister of National Solidarity, Family and Women's Issues, Ms. Kawthar Kriko, along with Algerian Red Crescent´s head, Saida Ben Habiles with the Sahrawi Ambassador in Algeria Mr. Abdul Qadir Al-Talib Omar, has oversaw the sending of humanitarian solidarity assistance to Sahrawi refugee camps.
This solidarity caravan included foodstuffs and hygiene materials, in addition to a variety of medical devices to face the emerging epidemic of Corona.

Friday is the First Day of Ramadan in the Sahrawi Reugee Camps

Chahid El Hafed, April 24, 2020 (SPS) -.The Saharawi people in the Saharawi Refugee Camps and in the Liberated Territories will begin this Friday the first day of Ramadan in the year 1441 of the Hegira (Al-Hiyra), corresponding to this Friday, April 24, 2020, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Justice and Religious Affairs.
In a message on the occasion, the President of the Republic, Brahim Gali sent his congratulations to the Sahrawi people for the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan.

Norway voices its deep concerned over Sahrawi political prisoners amid Covid-19 crisis

Oslo, April 23, 2020 (SPS) - Norwegian Foreign Minister Ine Eriksen Soreide said Norwegian authorities are very concerned about the situation in Moroccan prisons and the situation of Sahrawi human rights defenders .
In response, in writing, to Norwegian Parliament member Åsmund Aukrust, Ine Eriksen Søreide said that the Norwegian embassy in Rabat is regularly working with the situation of Sahrawi human rights defenders detained in Moroccan prisons, especially in the current situation in light of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Solidarity caravan departs to the liberated territories of the Saharawi Republic

The solidarity caravan transports tons of food and supplies with the aim of supporting residents of the liberated territories, especially in these circumstances in which the world faces the danger of the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

Sahrawi Republic receives medical aid from African Union fight Coronavirus

Chahid El Hafed,  April 21 2020 (SPS) –The Minister of Public Health Mrs. Jira Bulahi has received medical aid of  the African Union's Disease Control Center CDC (CDC Africa) to detect diseases in the framework of the Corona Virus (protection tools, detection Virus), which helps detect infection without using external assistance.

Shaheed El-Hafed, 19 April 2020 (SPS) - President of the Sahrawi Republic, Brahim Ghali, called on the United Nations to protect Sahrawi political prisoners in Moroccan prisons facing the danger of the Covid-19 pandemic.
In a speech to the nation, the Saharawi president, secretary general of the Polisario Front alerted the United Nations that Saharawi political prisoners live in deplorable conditions in Moroccan prisons at a time when the world is fighting against the Covid-19 pandemic.

Dr. Sidi Mohamed Omar delivers lecture on UN settlement process and decolonisation in Western Sahara

New York, 19 April 2020 (SPS) -  Dr. Sidi Mohamed Omar, member of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front, Representative to the United Nations, has held a teleconference entitled "the unfinished decolonisation of Western Sahara, the process of UN settlement and the policy of the superpowers", in which he broached the various stations of the United Nations' dealing with the Sahrawi issue, which is the only issue of decolonization in the African continent and which the UN has failed to complete so far.

SJJA launched a Media campaign asking for the freedom of Saharawi political prisoners due to COVID-19 threat

Tokyo (Japan) 17 April 2020 (SPS)- Sahara Japan Journalist Association (SJJA) launched a Medias campaign under the title “Freedom for all Western Sahara political prisoners”, on the 13 April in 2 Japanese online newspapers, “Nikkanberita” and “Chikyuza” (in Japanese), due to concerns about the possible spread of COVID-a9 in Moroccan prisons.
The campaign recalled that historically, Japanese and other authorities have repeatedly released prisoners in times of extreme danger, such as wars, but also in times of epidemics and pandemics.

Wilaya of Dakhla, April 15, 2020 (SPS) - the Minister of Water and Environment, Adda Brahim Humeim, has Wednesday undertook a working visit to the Wilaya of Dakhla to examine the work of the Provincial Water Directorate and the services it provides to the citizen, especially in this exceptional circumstance.
Adda Brahim Humeim has held a meeting with the Wali of Dakhla, Mrabih Mami who broached his host on the water network that supplies the Wilaya with this vital substance.
