International human rights organizations warn of Coronavirus consequences on Sahrawi people

Geneva (Switzerland), 28 March 2020 (SPS) - International human rights associations and organizations active in the field of human rights have warned of the repercussions of the global pandemic of Coronavirus, which is sweeping the world, on the Sahrawi people.
Some 400 associations and organizations from different countries have confirmed in a letter addressed to the members of the United Nations and through them to all parts of the world to warn of the repercussions and consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic on the Sahrawi people.

UN calls on governments to release prisoners to avoid a humanitarian catastrophe due to Coronavirus

Geneva (Switzerland) March 26, 2020 (SPS) - UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet has called on governments to take urgent action to protect the health and safety of people in detention and other closed facilities, as part of overall efforts to contain the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Covid-19 has begun to strike prisons, jails and immigration detention centres, as well as residential care homes and psychiatric hospitals, and risks rampaging through such institutions’ extremely vulnerable populations,” said Bachelet.

ICRC & UN are called to save lives of Sahrawi civilian prisoners in Moroccan prisons from Corona pandemic

Paris (France) March 24, 2020 (SPS) - The French Friendship and Solidarity Association with the Peoples of Africa, has appealed the International Committee of the Red Cross and the United Nations to intervene with the Moroccan authorities to assess the health status of civilian prisoners, the Gdeim Izik group.
The French Association has also called upon the said international NGOs to take the necessary measures to release them in order to avoid a humanity catastrophe, especially in the terrible spread of the Corona pandemic in various countries.

Chahid El-Hafed, March 24, 2020 (SPS) - the President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Frente POLISARIO, Mr. Brahim Gali has inspected some facilities for quarantine, to prevent the Corona virus sweeping the world.
The President of the Republic, who was accompanied by the Minister of Public Health, , Mrs. Jira Bulahi, along with seniors officials of her Ministry, including doctors and specialists, has reviewed these centers and their readiness to receive the arrivals.

No Coronavirus cases confirmed at Saharawi Refugee Camps NCMP (COVID-19)

Chahid El-Hafed, March 24, 2020 (SPS) - The National Mechanism for Monitoring and Prevention of the Coronavirus has confirmed Saturday that there have been no cases of contagion by Covid-19 in the Saharawi Refugee Camps adding that the health situation is stable, according to a statement from the Ministry of Public Health released yesterday.

The Saharawi Government announces new measures to face the world coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19)

Chahid El-Hafed, March 19, 2020 (SPS) - the Saharawi Government has announced a series of measures for its immediate implementation in order to face this unprecedented health crisis worldwide that is causing difficult times for all countries in the world.
The National Committee for Monitoring and Prevention of Coronavirus (COVID-19) has issued a statement informing the entire population about the measures to be followed in the refugee camps, in the liberated areas and in the occupied areas.
