Algiers, 20 January 2020 (SPS) - Algeria underlined Saturday that the serious unilateral decisions taken by Guinea and Gabon to open consulates in Western Sahara can under no circumstances legitimate the occupation of this territory nor question the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination.
“Algeria was informed of the unilateral decisions taken by the governments of Guinea and Gabon to open consular representations at Dakhla and al-Aaiun, two occupied cities of Western Sahara,” said a communiqué of Western Sahara.

The South African Football Association (SAFA) on Wednesday announced its decision to withdraw from the 2020 Africa Futsal Cup of Nation due to the tournament being hosted in the city of Laayoune in the disputed Western Sahara region.
SAFA in their decision said this was in line with the South African government and African Union (AU) resolution, hence, displaying their solidarity with the Sahrawi to fulfil its agreement with the AU.

At the Presidency of Republic, the following appointments were made:
Mohamed-Lamine Al-Buhali, Minister at the Presidency of the Republic in charge of the Auxiliary Brigade.

Algiers, 18 January 2020 (SPS) - Algerian Football Association (FAF) has sent a letter to the chairman of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in which it "denounces and opposes" that the hosting country Morocco holds the Africa Futsal Cup of Nations 2020 (January 28 – February 7) in the occupied town of El Aaiun," which belongs to the territory of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR)," the body governing football in Algeria said in a statement published Friday on its official website.

, 16 January 2020 (SPS) - President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Frente POLISARIO, Mr. Brahim Ghali, has called on the United Nations and Security Council to assume their respective responsibilities to close the illegal breach built by Morocco in the Buffer Strip in Guerguerat in southern Western Sahara, in a letter to Secretary-General of the United Nations, H.E. Mr António Guterres.

France, January 15, 2020 (SPS) - The association of Friends of the SADR in France expressed, again this year, their outrage and rejection of the passage of the Africa Eco Race Rally (12th edition - Monaco-Dakar) through the area of El Gargarat south of Western Sahara, in clear violation of the rights of the Saharawi people.
Many Saharawis arrived at the scene and organized a strong protest to denounce the illegality of the situation and express their rejection of the fallacies and expansionist maneuvers of Morocco at the expense of their neighbors.

Chahid El Hahed, January 13, 2020 (SPS) - In a protocol ceremony held at the headquarters of the Prime Ministry of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, the outgoing Prime Minister, Mohamed Luali Akeik, has transferred the portfolio to the new First Minister, Bucharaya Hamudi Beyun, appointed in office by the President of the Republic, Brahim Gali, last Monday.

Bir Lahlou (Liberated Territories), 12 January 2020 (SPS) -  President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Frente POLISARIO, Mr. Brahim Ghali, received a letter from Algerian President, Mr. Abdelmajid Tebboune, in which he congratulated him on his re-election as Secretary-General of the Frente POLISARIO and President of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic at the 15th Congress of the Frente POLISARIO.

New York, January 11, 2020 (SPS) - Permanent Representative of South Africa to the United Nations, Ambassador Jerry Matjila, called on the UN Security Council not to allow some of its permanent members’ political interests to undermine the respect of the international law and self-determination in the cases of Western Sahara and occupied Palestinian territories.

Bir Lehlou, 10 January 2020 (SPS) - The Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) denounced the opening by Gambia of a consular representation in Dakhla, describing the decision as "irresponsible" and "outrageous assault."
"The Republic of Gambia opened on January 8th, 2020, a consular representation in Dakhla, an occupied city of Western Sahara, in direct connection with the illegal Moroccan occupation of the Sahrawi Republic," the Sahrawi Foreign Ministry said in a statement Wednesday.

Oudaya Local Prison (Marrakech), 4 January 2020 (SPS) -  The Oudaya Local Prison Administration in Marrakesh, Morocco, on Friday deported Sahrawi civilian prisoner, Hussein Basheer Brahim Maadour, to the local prison of Ait-Melloul on the outskirts of the city of Agadir in southern Morocco.
