Special Committee on Decolonization reaffirms Polisario Front sole legitimate representative of Sahrawi people

New York (United Nations), September 21, 2018 (SPS) - The Special Committee on the Situation with regard to the Implementation of the Declaration on the Granting of Independence to Colonial Countries and Peoples reaffirmed that the Polisario Front remains the sole legitimate representative of the Sahrawi people in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations General Assembly, in its annual report for 2018 submitted to the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly.

New York (United Nations), September 21, 2018 (SPS) - The Special Committee on the Situation with regard to the Implementation of the Declaration on the Granting of Independence to Colonial Countries and Peoples, in its annual report of 2018 submitted to the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly, has reaffirmed the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination, in accordance with General Assembly resolution 1514 on the granting of independence to colonial countries and peoples, as well as the legal status of Western Sahara as a decolonization issue.

UN denounces harassment and intimidation of Sahrawi activists by Morocco

Geneva Sept 20, 2018 (SPS) - UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres criticized in a report the human rights situation in the occupied Sahrawi territories, stressing that Morocco has violated the International Convention against Torture and Other Cruel Treatment or Punishment.
Antonio Guterres' services released the report on the occasion of the 39th session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva from 10 to 28 September, media reports said.

Saharawi people forgotten conflict title of an important article published by German newspaper "Tagesspiegel"

Berlin, Sept 18, 2018 (SPS) - The German newspaper "Tagesspiegel" Monday published an important article on the question of Western Sahara highlighting the Sahrawi people long-duration refugee under the difficult circumstances.
The author of the article toured the origin of the Sahrawi conflict, which he described as "a forgotten conflict by the international community", emphasizing that Morocco illegally exploits the natural resources of the Saharawi territory.

Official launch of academic year 2018-2019

Shaheed Al-Hafed, September 16, 2018 (SPS) - The new academic year (2018-2019) officially started on Sunday in the Saharawi refugee camps and liberated territories of the Sahrawi Republic, after the national conference on education held last week in the wilaya of Boujdour.
The Ministry of Education confirmed that the launch is conducted with the presence of members from the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front, the Sahrawi government, and regional and local authorities, and under the supervision of the Ministry of Education.
