UNION/SUMMIT Arrival of the President of the
Republic to Abuja to take part to the African Union's Summit

The President of the Republic, Mohamed Abdelaziz, arrived Sunday
morning to the Nigerian Capital, Abuja, to take part to the fourth
ordinary session of the Summit of the African Union (AU), which takes
part January the 30 and 31, 2005.
The Head of the State was received to the airport by Nigerian high
officials before heading towards the summit, to take part to the
opening session beside his African counterparts.
The Summit was opened by the President of the AU, Mr. Olusegun
Obasanjo, before giving the word to Mr. Alpha Oumar Konaré,
President of the AU's Commission, who gave a summary on the last
developments the most important African subjects, of which a paragraph
was dedicated to Western Sahara and the perspectives of peace in the
north African region.
It should be mentioned that the Saharawi presidential delegation is
composed of Mohamed Salem ould Salek, Minister for Foreign Affairs,
M'hamed khadad, Coordinator with the Minurso, Alien Habib Kentawi,
Saharawi Ambassador to Nigeria and Breika Lehbib, SADR's Ambassador to
Ethiopia and the African Union. (SPS)
