Lehlu, 28/03/2005 (SPS) The President of the Republic, Mohamed
Abdelaziz, addressed a message of congratulations to his Algerian
counterpart, Abdelaziz Bouteflika, on the occasion of the success of
the 17th summit of the Arab League, which took place in Algeria from
the 22 to the 23 of March.
"The observers, of whom we are a party, unanimously stressed that then
Algiers summit was the summit of reforms by excellent ", underlined
Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz. He added that "the Arab peoples aspired
for a long period of time to a strong, harmonious, influent and active
Arab League that would be at the level of their major ambitions and
answers the needs of the period with objectivity, wisdom and rigour
through firm and applicable decisions".
"This summit was distinguished by a marking fact that gave it a special
character without precedent. What was special about the summit was that
it transcended the Arab dimension to be transformed to an international
rendezvous gathering representatives of international and regional
organisations", underlined Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz.
Finally, the Saharawi President said to be convinced that the summit of
Algiers "was a historical Arab rendezvous that allowed the Arab League
to take the path of reform, which will be –we are confident- a new
basis for the settlement of democracy, the realisation of international
legality and the strengthening of the culture of peace and respect of
