(SPS)

France makes use of its right to Veto to erect obstacles to
UN's resolutions, declared The President of the State
Algiers, 27/06/04 (SPS) The President of the Republic, Mohamed
Abdelaziz, criticised the French position regarding the conflict in
Western Sahara, reiterating Polisario Front's wiliness to restore peace
in the region resorting to international legality and in application to
pertienent UN's resolutions.
Invited, on Thursday, to Arabic speaking newspaper Djazair News, the
Head of State regretted France easy "use of its right to Veto so as to
make UN's resolutions inapplicable" whenever Western Sahara's question
is concerned, while it calls, as a superpower, for the respect of the
same UN's resolutions in other conflicts.
Although Morocco persists in challenging international community's will
and "refuse to comply with" UN's resolutions, France sees no
incoherence in backing Rabat's expansionist thesis, in complete
"obstruction to the restitution of peace in Western Sahara", instead of
convincing it respect international legality, he said.
"French influence within Security Council in favour of Morocco does not
help in calming the situation down in the region, and additionally
complicate the search for a fair and profitable solution to the two
parties and to all neighbouring countries", he deplored.
Polisario Front, in the contrary, will continue working to "restore
peace resorting to peaceful ways", as it has recently proved by
releasing 100 Moroccan prisoners of war, and will continue cooperating
with the international community in the search of a just and lasting
solution to the conflict within the framework of the UN and in
compliance with its relevant resolutions, he underlined. (SPS)
