Assassination attempt against three Saharawi political prisoners in the Carcel negra in El Aaiun

26.08.05

El Aaiun (occupied territories), 26/08/2006 (SPS) Three Saharawi political prisoners escaped an assassination attempt perpetrated against them in their cell in the notorious Carcel Negra in El Aaiun by some Moroccan criminals under the orders of the Moroccan penitentiary authorities, aimed to stop them from claiming their people's right to self-determination and independence, according to a press release publicised by the prisoners.

The group of Moroccan criminals, who were armed with knives and other weapons in addition to boiled oil, entered the cell of the Saharawi political prisoners, Mohamed Salem Mohamed Yeslem Bahaha, Mohamed Mouloud Gemid Elhaj and Abd Slam Kasem Dida late in the early morning of the 25th of August while the political prisoners were sleeping, the same press release stressed.

On another hand, it should be recalled that another Saharawi political prisoner, Lehmam Salama Brahim Mouloud, who is now detained in the prison of Inzegan, was stabbed in his throat by a Moroccan criminal by a Moroccan criminal under the orders of the Director of the prison, in the end of last June. OCCUPIED TERRITORIES/REPRESSION

Four Saharawi citizens arrested in the occupied cities of Smara and Bojador

Bojador (occupied territories), 26/08/2006 (SPS) Three Saharawi citizens at least were recently arrested in Bojador by the Moroccan forces of repression, who were blaming them for the possession of the Saharawi national flags and videos of the celebrations of the 30th anniversary of the proclamation of the Saharawi Republic, which was held in the liberated zones of Western Sahara, in Tifariti, concordant sources indicated.

The arrested citizens are: Anahi Brahim, Khatri Saaidi and Baba Damia Khayar, who were "savagely" tortured by the Moroccan forces of occupation in the occupied city of Bojador, while the Saharawi citizen, Meni Chaoui, was also arrested and tortured in the occupied city of Smara.

Mr. Chaoui was arrested after he fought with an agent of the Moroccan Group of Urban Security (GUS), who was about to brutalise a young Saharawi girl. The Saharawi citizen was then arrested and led to a Moroccan detention centre in the occupied city of Smara.

On another hand, the Saharawi political prisoners in the Moroccan prison of Inzegan and Kenitra, are still continuing their hunger strike to protest against the inhumane conditions they are suffering from under detention, it should be recalled.
