El Aaiun (Saharawi Republic’s Capital), 26/01/2006 (SPS) The Moroccan authorities widely deployed their different corps of security in the streets and neighbourhoods of the occupied city of El Aaiun, in addition to the motorised patrols that criss-cross, reported SPS’s correspondent on the ground.
Young Saharawis raised the flags of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic in many streets of the occupied city of El Aaiun and fixed them in some places, before the Moroccan forces of repression intervened taking away the Saharawi flags and burning them before the passers-by in a hysterical reaction, the same source added.
The Moroccan forces of occupation also blocked the main streets after the pursuit of the young Saharawis who raised the flags of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic in defiance to the Moroccan repressive apparatus, the same source stressed.
On another hand, three big flags of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic were raised in the main streets of the occupied city of Dakhla, the source added.
The Moroccan forces of repression did not succeed to take off the flags of the Saharawi Republic in the presence of the Saharawi citizens chanted slogans in favour of the independence of Western Sahara, the correspondent concluded. (SPS)

SPS Saharawi students in the University of Sciences in Moroccan Agadir determined to continue the uprising

Agadir (Morocco), 26/01/2006 (SPS) Saharawi students in the «Ibn Zouhr» University of Sciences expressed on Tuesday their determination to "pursue the uprising of independence that calls for the withdrawal of the Moroccan occupation and the constitution of an independence Saharawi State, in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the proclamation of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic", the correspondent of SPS on the ground indicated.
They also raised the flags of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic in the university as well as in the university’s campus, the same source added.
On another hand, the Moroccan colonial authorities proceeded last Wednesday to the abusive transfer of the Saharawi political prisoner, Heddi Chreif, from the prison of Ait Melloul to the local prison of Tiznit, without previous notification to the concerned, the same source indicated. (SPS)

SPS The Arab Committee of support to the Saharawi people addresses a letter of congratulation to Aminatou Haidar

El Aaiun (occupied territories), 26/01/2006 (SPS) The Arab Committee of support to the Saharawi people addressed, on Wednesday, a letter of congratulation to the Saharawi human rights activist and political prisoner, Mrs. Aminatou Haidar, after she was release by the Moroccan authorities having served 7 months imprisonment in the worst conditions in the 'Carcel negra' (black jail) in El Aaiun.
"The liberation of the peoples requires, without any doubt, huge sacrifices. Andy you certainly gave an example in the prison of the Moroccan Government", the Arab Committee wrote in its letter to the Saharawi activist, of which SPS received a copy.
"Now that you are free, we can but reaffirm you our engagement to work together for the realisation of the Saharawi people’s legitimate rights", the text added.
The Arab Committee is the first of its kind, and was constituted last September 2004, so as to back the Saharawi people in recovering its legitimate rights to self-determination and independence, "conforming to the UN’s Security Council’s pertinent resolutions", it should be recalled.
It is composed of Arab intellectuals, University teachers, lawyers, doctors, journalists and writers, it should be recalled. (SPS)
