25.03.04

New York, 25/03/2004 (SPS) UN will save no effort to quickly find a fair and final solution to Western Sahara conflict conforming to UN's resolutions, asserted, UN's Secretary General, Kofi Annan, after a meeting he had, on Wednesday in UN's head office in New York, with the President of the Republic, Mohamed Abdelaziz, reported sources from the presidency.

The meeting discussed Western Sahara question's last developments, especially the perspectives of the implementation of the peace plan for self-determination of Saharawi people, elaborated by SG's Personal Envoy, James Baker, and adopted by Security Council in the resolution 1495 of July the 31st 2003, it was indicated.

Calling back the full cooperation of Polisario Front with Security Council and with SG's Personal Envoy, Mr. Baker, the Head of State deplored « the blocking attitude of Morocco, who persists in ignoring International Community's appeals in favour of the implementation of the Security Council's resolution», it was added.

It should be recalled that the President of the Republic has started a work visit to USA last Wednesday, where he will meet with many American high officials. (SPS)
