SPS Spain must not "elude" its responsibilities in the decolonisation of the Western Sahara, affirms Mr. Xabier Gonzalez 25.02.06

Madrid, 25/02/2006 (SPS) The President of the Galician Party, Xabier Gonzalez, declared, on Thursday on margin of his visit to the Saharawi refugee camps heading a delegation of his party, that Spain, which remains legally considered as the Administrating power of the Western Sahara, has got a "debt to the Saharawi people" and must not "elude" its responsibilities in the finishing of the process of decolonisation of the territory.
The President of the Galician Party also affirmed that his organisation "will save no effort" in the mobilisation of the Spanish society "in defence of the just cause of the Saharawi people, who deserve an active and general support", reported Algerian Press Agency, APS.
The Galician delegation started, since last Friday, a visit to the Saharawi refugee camps to show their region’s support to the "just cause'' of the Saharawi people, who advocate their legitimate right to self-determination, the same source added.
On another hand, the Autonomous Government of the Spanish region Castilla La Mancha, announced that it will dispatch some 76.500 euros humanitarian aid to the Saharawi refugee camps, which were recently stricken by strong rains and floods.
This aid will be basically consisted of food, tents, clothes and water, it was said.
Moreover, a caravan sent by the Foundation "4x4 Pilots without borders" started its trip recently departing from Saragossa in a rally of solidarity, to bring some 10 tons aid composed of drugs, and medical equipments the organisers of this initiative declared.
The Director of the Foundation, Miguel Angel Puyol, stressed that the Rally coincides with a very "significant date" for the Saharawi people, which is the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the proclamation of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic, this February the 27th. (RASD).
''We want the Saharawi people to see that we are backing them and that they have all our support'', he declared. (SPS)

SPS WFP calls on donators to increase their contribution of humanitarian aid to the Saharawi refugees

Brussels, 25/02/2006 (SPS) The World Food Programme (WFP) asked the donators, on Friday, to increase their contribution for the aid in favour of the Saharawis now that it is obvious that "a serious deficiency in the humanitarian aid threatens the whole Saharawi refugees populations", reported the Algerian Press Service, APS.
In a press release, publicised by the organisation on Friday, the WFP indicated that i twill soon send an emergency humanitarian aid to the Saharawi populations, who were victims to weather torments in the Saharawi refugee camps. It evaluated the food emergency needs to 3.6 millions dollars in favour of the refugees, who are "totally dependent" of this aid to survive for the next six months.
WFP also asked the donators "not to abandon the Saharawi refugees, who are living in very difficult conditions in the middle of the desert where they have no chance to earn their living.
The European Committee, on its side, has dedicated an emergency aid evaluated to 400.000 euros to the disaster-stricken Saharawi refugees, it should be recalled.
This aid allowed the WFP to borrow strategic stocks from the Humanitarian Department of the European Committee to provide emergency food to the refugees for a month. (SPS)

SPS Opening of the international conference of solidarity with the Saharawi people in El Aaiun

El Aaiun (refugees camps), 25/02/2005 (SPS the international conference of solidarity with the Saharawi people opened its works, on Saturday in the Wilaya of El Aaiun, under the presidency of the President of the European Coordination of Support to the Saharawi people, Pierre Galland, and with he presence of many delegations from all continents, who came to testify their indefectible support to the Saharawi people for its national liberation.
The conference, which is taking place in margin of the festivities marking the 30th anniversary of the Saharawi Republic, was co-chaired by the Saharawi Prime Minister, Abdelkader Taleb Oumar, the Minister Councilor at the Presidency, Mohamed Sidati, Mrs Karin SCheele, President of the European Parliament's intergroup "Peace for the Saharawi people", the President of the Fedissah, Carmelo Ramirez and Mr. Mehrez Lamari, President of the Algerian Committee of support to the Saharawi people.
The proclamation of the Saharawi Republic, a main stage in the struggle of the Saharawi people, the updating of the Saharawi people, the permanent responsibility of the UN and the international community in the decolonisation of the Western Sahara and finally the permanent action of the international solidarity, were the main points of the debates of this conference, which closure will be in Tifariti this Monday on the occasion of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Saharawi republic.
Some 400 members of governments, ambassadors, representatives of political parties, Parliamentarians, representatives of civil societies, NGOs, Medias participated in the development of the themes of the conference. (SPS)

SPS Polisario Front asks the international community to "save peace" in the Western Sahara

El Aaiun (refugees camps), 25/02/2006 (SPS) The Saharawi Prime Minister, Abdelkader Taleb Oumar, called on the international community, Saturday, "to intervene so as to save peace" and enable the Saharawi people exercise their legitimate right to self-determination and independence.
Intervening before the international conference of solidarity with the Saharawi people, held this Saturday in the Wilaya of El Aaiun, Mr. Taleb Oumar estimated that this conference is the "best award" to offer to the Saharawi people during the commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the proclamation of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic.
"While we commemorate the 30thanniversaryof the Saharawi Republic, our people reaffirm their determination to continue the struggle until the total liberation and independence, despite of the hard conditions and bad floods", which has recently stroke the Saharawi refugees camps.
"The march of our people will continue. Neither the repression nor the threats of the Moroccan regime or its constant refusal to enforce its engagements with the international community, will succeed to daunt us", he said.
The Saharawi Prime Minister recalled that the celebrations of the 30th anniversary of the Saharawi Republic in Tifariti (liberated territories), intervenes to concretize the unity of the essential elements of the Saharawi State, that is to say the homeland, the people and the regime.
On another hand he added that the commemoration of these celebrations "are the expression of our solidarity with the Saharawi citizens in the occupied territories of Western Sahara, who are waging the uprising of independence since last May2005, asking for Saharawi people's right to self-determination and rejecting the Moroccan occupation of the territory".
The conference gathered delegations representing governments, parliaments, associations, trade unions, organizations, and the civil society coming from many countries from the five continents to give another proof on the international consensus on the just cause of the Saharawi cause. (SPS)
