Moroccan occupying forces arrest a Saharawi citizen in El Aaiun

Chahid El Hafed, 20/02/2004 (SPS) Moroccan occupying forces arrested a Saharawi on the last 14th February in El Aaiun, occupied Capital of Western Sahara, according to a communiqué of the ministry of the occupied territories, SPS received on Friday.

Mohamed Bahia Sidi Brahim, was arrested in a café in the city, driven to a police station where he was «during three days, mistreated, tortured and forced to sign a confession, before been transferred to the Carcel negra (black prison) in El Aaiun », specified the communiqué.

Occupation authorities accuse him, according to the communiqué, of «sympathising with Polisario Front».

« Without judgement and in a critic health state, Mohamed Bahia, did not receive cares and could not be visited by his family » deplored the communiqué, calling the international human Rights' organizations «to intervene to bring Morocco to stop the oppression and the violations of human Rights in Western Sahara and to protect Saharawi civil population in occupied territories».  

Besides, the communiqué mentioned the transfer of a Saharawi activist, Al Agdadi Ali, from the prison of Ait Melloul towards the one of el Jedida, «to take him away of his family and of his Saharawi co-detainees, while he is in a critical health state because of the bad conditions of detentions».

In addition, the communiqué published the list of 13 political Saharawi prisoners parted between the prisons of El Aaiun (Carcel negra), Kenitra, Sale, El Jedida and Agadir in Morocco.( list of saharawi political prisoners). SPS
