Madrid, 20/01/2006 (SPS) The Secretary General of the Canaries Islands political party represented in the Spanish National Parliament, Coalicion Canaria, José Miguel Barragán, qualified the "autonomy plan" evoked by the Moroccan Government for the Western Sahara, as "a dilatory manœuvre", reported Spanish newspaper "La Opinión de Tenerife".

Mr. Barragon, underlined that the position of his party on the conflict of Western Sahara is constant, recalling that Coalicion canaria supports a solution to the conflict that is based on "Saharawi people’s right to self-determination and on the Baker Plan II", the same source added.

On another hand, the Secretary of the Spanish party estimated that the United Nations can not allow that the territory be "sold for a sort of autonomy".

He also declared that his organisation believes that "the Moroccan preposition is no more than a dilatory manœuvre’’, recalling that Polisario  Front accepted the Baker Plan, while Morocco does not stop erecting obstacles in front of its implementation. (SPS)
