Bir Lehlu,
(liberated territories), 19/12/2005 (SPS) Saharawi Minister of Occupied
Territories and Saharawi Communities abroad, Mr. Khalil Sidi Mohamed warned the
international opinion on Saturday about the consequences of he Moroccan
repressive policies adopted against Saharawi peaceful demonstrations in the
occupied territories of Western Sahara and the dangers they represent vis-à-vis
a peaceful settlement of the conflict on the non-self-governing territory as
well as on the stability of the entire region.
He also called the UN, through its Mission on the ground MINURSO, to protect
Saharawi civilians against the fierce repression of the Moroccan authorities
against Saharawi peaceful demonstrators, with a view to organise a
self-determination referendum for the Saharawi people, the Saharawi Minister
underlined in a press release he publicised, of which SPS received a copy.
The press release, which gave a preliminary result about the last repression
reporting on
64 cases of arrests, 48 wounded and 11 Saharawi houses devastated and their
belongings ransacked or robed by Moroccan police, indicated that the number of
he victims may increase because of the pursuit and the excessive use of force by
the Moroccan colonial forces of security against Saharawi demonstrators in the
occupied city of El Aaiun.
Moreover, the Minister underlined that the Moroccan colonial authorities
proffered the escalade by opting for a blind repression and for the deployment
of thousands soldiers disguised in civilian clothes to use them in direct
confrontations with the Saharawi demonstrators for hidden reasons.
He also
recalled that the peaceful demonstrations that took place last Fray in El Aaiun
had only asked for Saharawi people’s right to self-determination through the
organisation of a referendum under the auspices of the UN.(SPS)
