students in Agadir ask for the independence of Western Sahara

(SPS) From the University of "Ibnu Zouhr", the voices of more than 1000
Saharawi student asked for "the independence of their country",
denouncing Moroccan colonial authorities human rights' violations in
occupied territories of Western Sahara, reported the correspondent of
Sahara Press Service on the ground.
"More than 1000 Saharawi Student,of both sexes, organised a
demonstrations and a march in the University Ibnu Zouhr in Agadir. They
were chanting slogans condemning Moroccan human rights' abuses in
occupied territories of Western Sahara and South Morocco, and firmly
asking for the independence of their country, exhorting the different
Saharawi social classes and groups to more resistance and sacrifices
until the complete liberation of Western Sahara", indicated the same
source to SPS.
"The independence is the only solution", "when the peoples decide they
change their destinies", "darkness will dissipate and the chains would
be broken", "oppression does not terrorise us and death would not stop
us"; are some of many chanted slogans.
The demonstration started at 1 o'clock in the afternoon with a
gathering of the students at the centre of the university, where
interventions against Moroccan colonialism were read, followed by a
march that ended with the lecture of a communiqué by one of the
organisers at the front door of the University.
During the march the demonstrators carried placards with slogans that
called to put an end to Moroccan violations of human rights in occupied
territories, as well as pictures of Martyr El Wali Mustafa Sayed,
legendary leader and founder of Polisario Front, and maps of Western
Sahara.
"This march comes within the framework of the recently protests
organised by the different Saharawi social groups in occupied
territories, south Morocco and in Moroccan universities, to express
their rejection of the colonial policies adopted by the Moroccan
colonial authorities in occupied territories, south Morocco, where a
large Saharawi population is living", emphasised the same source. (SPS)

attachment to their people's right to self-determination

Saharawi students in Agadir declared Thursday their "attachment to
Saharawi people's right to self-determination", in a communiqué
publicised by the students Thursday at the University of Ibnu Zouhr in
Agadir, of which SPS received a copy
"We declare our complete and unconditioned attachment to Saharawi
people inalienable right to self-determination through a free and
transparent referendum, organised and supervised by the United Nations
and the African Union", declared the communiqué, read by one of
the organisers of the march.
Declaring their support to "the legendary resistance of the Saharawi
popular masses in Western Sahara", the students condemned "the barbaric
attack by the State of Morocco against Saharawi people and their
legitimate socio-economic and political rights".
On another hand, they demanded "that the truth be revealed upon the
fates of Saharawi reported-missing and the release of the political
prisoners" still under illegal detention in Moroccan cells.
The communiqué also called "to the raising of the state of Media
siege", imposed on Saharawi cities and communities in occupied
territories by Moroccan colonial authorities, denouncing harassments
and intimidations exerted by the colonial security services against
Saharawi students and human rights' activists.
The demonstration started Thursday at 1 o'clock in the afternoon in the
University Ibnu Zouhr in Agadir with a gathering, which was marked by
interventions from students against Moroccan colonialism, followed by a
march in the University that ended with the reading of a
communiqué at the front door of the University, it should be

SPS SADR/SWEDEN/SOLIDARITY A demonstration of solidarity
with the Saharawi people tomorrow in front of Moroccan Embassy in
Stockholm

demonstration of solidarity with the Saharawi people will be organised
Saturday December the 18, 2004 in front of Moroccan Embassy in
Stockholm,
indicated Saharawi Representative to Scandinavian countries, M. Lamine
Yahyaoui, to Sahara Press Service, (SPS).
"A demonstration will be organised Tomorrow, December the 18, in front
of Moroccan Embassy in Stockholm-Kungsholmstorg 16, at 15.00 h (local
time). This demonstration was proposed and organised by the LUF
(Swedish Liberal Youth)", emphasised Mr. Yahyaoui to SPS via a phone
call.
"The demonstration also comes within the framework of the indignation
of the friends of the Saharawi people and the Swedish civil society
about obstructive and intransigent attitude of the Moroccan Government,
which still refuse to conform with the international legality and
respect its commitments with Polisario Front and the UN for the
settlement of the conflict in Western Sahara", he added.
The demonstrators, will also "call their Government to support Saharawi
people's right to self-determination, and to firmly back United
Nations' efforts for a fair and definitive solution to the conflict",
declared the Saharawi diplomat.
In the programme, interventions of personalities from the Swedish civil
society are planned, in particular of Mr. Frederik Malm, President of
the Liberal Youth, Mr. Jan Strömdahl, President of the Swedish
Western Sahara Association (Föreningen Västsahara), as well
as Mr. Gunnar Nordmark, a Swedish Parliament Member.
It should be recalled that the Swedish civil society had organise last
December the 10th a big demonstration on the occasion of the
International Day for Human Rights, in which many speakers denounced
the human rights' violations perpetrated by totalitarian and colonial
regimes, mainly against Saharawi people in occupied territories of
Western Sahara.
The Saharawi Representative to the Scandinavian countries had on his
side underlined the need "to put an end to the systematic human rights
violations of Saharawi people in occupied territories", calling to a
quick and just settlement of the conflict in Western Sahara, conforming
to the pertinent UN's resolutions. (SPS)
