Lemleihess (35Km in the East of occupied El Aaiun), 17/01/2006 (SPS) Saharawi human rights activists and political prisoner, Mrs. Aminatou Haidar, estimated, on Tuesday in Lemheiless (35Km in the East of occupied El Aaiun), that it is "time to put an end to the Moroccan violations of Saharawi people’s rights", calling on the international community to demand "the completion of the decolonisation of Western Sahara", reported SPS’s correspondent on the ground.

During her intervention before hundreds citizens, who came from the different occupied cities of Western Sahara and south Morocco to participate t a big popular reception organised on the occasion of the release of the activist, Mrs. Haidar called on the international community to complete the decolonisation process of Western Sahara, estimating that "it is time to put an end to the Moroccan violations of Saharawi people’s rights, including the inalienable rights to self-determination and independence".

Mrs. Haidar, who has just served her 7 months detention sentence in very bad conditions in la Carcel Negra in El Aaiun, also hailed "the peaceful and courageous struggle of the Saharawi people, especially Saharawi women and students, who gave the proof of a big responsibility and maturity in their struggle for freedom and independence despite the Moroccan incomparable oppression", she added.

On another hand, the Saharawi political prisoner estimated that this struggle must be led "until the realisation of the national goal, which consists in the establishment of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic on the entire territory of Western Sahara, free and sovereign".

In addition, Aminatou paid tribute to all organisations, personalities and institutions which expressed their solidarity and support to the Saharawi political prisoners still under detention.

"The joy is incomplete without the release of all Saharawi political prisoners, and without the liberation of all the territories of the homeland still under the occupation of the oppressor", Mrs. Haidar concluded.

Mother to two children, Mohamed and Hayat, the Saharawi human rights’ activist was first arrested in 1987 and maintained under secret detention for 4 years in the secret detention camp PC-CMI in El Aaiun, where she underwent all kinds of torture according to many testimonies she gave since her release in 1991 like some 300 other Saharawi political detainee at that time.

Many Parliaments, international personalities and organisations adopted the cause of this young woman, who became a symbol of Saharawi political prisoners, especially human rights activists who are still under detention. She was even nominated by the European Parliament to its human Rights Sajarov Price, it should be recalled. (SPS)

El Aaiun (occupied capital of SADR), 17/01/2005 (SPS) Moroccan authorities proceeded this Tuesday to the arrest, harassments and intimidations against hundreds Saharawi citizens, who were going to Lemleihess (35Km east of the occupied El Aaiun) to participate to the popular reception organised on the occasion of the release of Saharawi political prisoner, Aminatou Haidar, reported SPS’s correspondent on the ground.

"Moroccan authorities have, on the first hand, deprived the family Haidar from receiving their daughter in their home, under the direct threat by Moroccan Security Director, Hamidou Laanigri. The family and the Saharawi population decided, thus, to organise the reception outside the occupied city, some 35Km in the east (Lemleihess), but the forces of occupation went there too to harass the Saharawi citizens. They put three military controls and arrested 4 persons at least after the end of the reception", the same source indicated.

Concordant information reported the arrest of two former victims of arbitrary detention, Mr. Yahya Mohamed El Hafed and Mr. El Haiba Ahmed Mahmoud, in addition to two young men still not identified. The four men were arrested at a military control by security agents in the eastern entry of the occupied city during their return from the reception.

On another hand, SPS’s correspondent asserted that the house of the President of the Saharawi Association of the serious human rights violations committed by the Moroccan State in Western Sahara, Brahim Dahan, was ransacked by the forces of occupation in addition to the houses of the family Kaziza and of Abba Lefdil family.

Moroccan authorities also intervened massively to disperse the participants to the popular reception, organised in Lemheiless, but they did not succeed because of the strong popular resistance they faced.

"The occupied city of El Aaiun is living dubious moments, full of resistance, anger rand challenge showed by the Saharawi population, which is determined to face the Moroccan violations of Saharawi people’s right to freedom and independence", declared to the correspondent of SPS Mr. M.L.S, having just been ill-treated by Moroccan security agents after his participation to a demonstration in El Aaiun to protest against the Moroccan practices.
